The Ocean Perspectives Collection

This collection of paintings brings you through a journey of ocean perspectives that explores the ever changing beauty of the ocean from four distinct perspectives across twelve paintings. Through this series of paintings, I capture the dynamic essence of the sea, portraying its vastness and connection to the sky and sand.

The first set of three paintings, “Out at Sea”, provides a glimpse into the heart of the ocean. These works transport the viewer into the middle of the ocean, surrounded by water in every direction. The focus is on deep, dark blues and its contrast to the skies, drawing us into the depths of the ocean’s soul.

The second set, “Sea and Sky”, draws us back into a perspective closer to the shoreline as we explore the meeting point between two great expanses: the ocean and the sky. These works capture the endless horizon where water and air blend. The play of light, color, and cloud formations over the ocean invite contemplation of the limitless possibilities that exist at this intersection.

“Sand, Sea, and Sky”, the third set in the collection, brings us further back onto the ever changing shoreline as we look to the ocean in front and to the skies above. Here, the sands of the beach provide a grounding element, while the sea and sky create a magnificent backdrop. These paintings evoke the tranquility and nostalgia of beach side moments.

The final set of paintings, “Sand and Sea”, narrows the focus to the shoreline itself. These works celebrate the intimate relationship between the land and the sea. The textures of sand, the ebb and flow of waves, and the play of light on the water’s surface capture the harmony between the earth and ocean, echoing the eternal rhythm of nature.

A special large painting, Winter Ocean Sunrise is included in this collection. Inspired by the quiet moments of the sun rising over Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine in the middle of January, Winter Ocean Sunrise highlights the interplay between the sky and the sea. Braving the dark and frigid winter mornings rewards you with an ever changing mosaic of soft colors: cool shades of purple sand blending with the yellow and pinks on the water left behind by withdrawing waves. The warmer tones of orange and pink kissing the horizon mark the beginning of a new day, bringing the promise of the sun’s warmth during the chill of winter. Winter Ocean Sunrise transports you to this tranquil seascape, allowing you to experience the stillness, the reflection, and the first rays of warmth on a cold winter morning.
